Dame Joan Bakewell: Housing for the "Third Age"

Talks and Debates
3 July
18:00 - 19:00

Hosted by: Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects
A Summer Event with Dame Joan Bakewell

What is the role that architecture plays in our lives as we grow older? As more and more of us live longer and in better health what kind of homes and communities will meet our needs and aspirations in the future?

Please join Pollard Thomas Edwards architects for a public talk by Dame Joan Bakewell in the cobbled courtyard of our offices on the Regent’s Canal to hear about housing for the 'third age'.

As the recent ‘voice of the elderly’ Dame Joan Bakewell is a passionate and committed writer and broadcaster uniquely placed to speak on issues for older people that ultimately concern us all. The report on the findings of HAPPI – Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for Innovation, co-authored by our practice, recognised that the UK fails to match the quality and innovation seen in housing for older people abroad. It is vital to raise aspirations and to realise how much better things could be. This talk will provide an opportunity to hear a well-known and respected personality bring her own perspective to the topic of housing reform.
